I'm always looking for ways to sneak more fruits and vegetables into my diet. One of the simplest ways to do that is with smoothies. All you need is a good blender and your imagination and you can create all kinds of healthy and tasty concoctions.
This is my latest one. It reminds me of the Mexican hot chocolates you can get in a coffee shop. It is cold, though, and therefore more like a milkshake.
You will need:
1 cup diced papaya (FYI - you can buy this in the frozen section for cheap)
1 cup chocolate milk
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp of cayenne
Blend and enjoy. If you like it colder you can add ice cubes.
Papaya is low in fat and calories but high in many important nutrients:
Vitamin C = 144% of daily value
Vitamin A = 31%
Folate = 13%
Vitamin E = 5%
Vitamin K = 5%
It also contains many of the B vitamins in smaller amounts.
In honor of Cinco de Mayo, whip yourself up this tasty smoothie and enjoy!
