I have a friend who lives a very stressful life with working two jobs, caring for three wonderful little kids and her marriage. She was very frustrated that she keeps losing socks in the laundry. She happened to find one in her shirt during a business meeting at work and took a lot of jokes for the next week.
I kindly provided her with a suggestion to use mesh laundry bags. My friend was not even aware of them, so I wonder how many others are also unaware of this simple, yet incredible invention! Mesh laundry bags can be purchased in the laundry section of stores (where you find hampers and baskets) or online. You put your socks, pantyhose, underwear or other small items that tend to disappear in the wash into the bag, zip the bag and throw it in the washer with the rest of your laundry. Then transfer to the dryer. When your laundry is done, open the zipper and remove your items. They are very affordable. They can be given to each member of the family to keep track of socks. This method also saves time on pairing a large amount of socks. They are also great at protecting pantyhose from getting runners while they are being washed.
Consider trying them and save yourself some frustration!
